This is a mix of en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wendigo + a good dose of wood spirit taking revenge on hunters.
I went crazy with details once again and added a snake, two birds, a fox and a wolf... despite the fact that this commission (for online game Algadon www.algadon.com) was for a 250 px tall image..

Hmm. Since most of the Native Americans who had versions of the wendigo/windego legend were hunting cultures, "harming the creatures of the woods" seems like an unlikely thing for hunters to object to. However, it's true there's always been a difference between hunting to eat and slaughtering unnecessarily for one's own amusement or madness.
